Just in time for the last holiday weekend of the summer a High Surf Advisory has been issued and a swell rolled into Cali beaches.
The National Weather Service predicted 6-10 foot waves pounding the coast all the way through Sunday night.
The rip tides may have already accounted for the life of one boogie boarder who went missing off the Surfside Area of Huntington Beach. A rip tide is a strong current that runs back out to see and can pull a swimmer with it. If you're caught in one you should swim parallel to the shore, until you exit the current but don't exhaust yourself fighting it.
Our prayers go out for the missing 24 yo Jowayne Binford and his family. When you're out there waiting for the waves, take a moment of silence for a downed brother.
There have been reports of 20 foot waves at the Wedge, a spot near Newport Beach in Orange County.
Have fun but be safe!
